Just returned from playing tennis (Cambridge Lawn Tennis Club), and noticed that all the hedge has now been taken out along Long Road (see first saga notes and photographs) – and with it the demolition of the 14 birds nests I counted in the 100 or so yards of hedge left standing from the first round. So no home for the birds for about another 15 years I suppose, that is unless they keep cutting it down. But one good thing about this latest removal is that the hedge was not trashed, rather they have been careful to saw off the hedge plants at just above ground level, so the roots are still there. The ditch itself has now been dredged and cleared. Photographs will follow when I get a minute!!
